I used to be a fan of the saying ‘Fast, Reliable, Cheap – pick 2, you can’t have them all!’ but now I think differently and believe that you can have all three. The thing is that each attribute is a relative measure, what is cheap to one person may be expensive to another. What is fast and what level of reliability do you need? The technology marketplace has changed so much and I feel that if I understand my requirements for a product or service then I can find a solution that gives me value for the price I pay. I will have speed I need with the reliability I need and the return on investment I need – the sweet spot!
Notice that this is a management of expectations based on needs not desires and highlights the inclusion relationship in the trilogy not looking for a reason to exclude.
